Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, made a triumphant return to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, just hours after the Supreme Court ruled in his favor against Governor Simi Fubara. Wike's spokesperson announced his arrival in a video, saying "Nyerisi has landed in Port Harcourt" .
The Supreme Court's decision was a significant victory for Wike, who had been embroiled in a dispute with Governor Fubara. The court ruled that the Central Bank of Nigeria should not release monthly disbursements to Rivers State until a lawful Appropriation Law is enacted under the Martin Amaewhule speakership. Additionally, the court declared the Rivers local government election illegal .
Wike reacted to the news with gratitude, saying in a viral video, "God has honoured me." His return to Port Harcourt was seen as a grand entrance, with many speculating that he would continue to exert his influence over Rivers State politics .
